In Avengers: Endgame, the famous movie Back to the Future was jokingly referred to. For this reason, the writer of the film decided to respond to this joke.
Last year, Marvel conquered millions of fans with Avengers: Endgame. This movie, in addition to saying goodbye to very important characters, gave us an adventure full of time travel and a final battle full of superheroes, who came together to end the threat of Thanos. Also, the film had a reference to the iconic 80s film, Back to the Future, a recognized film and frequently quoted when talking about time travel.
At one point in Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man surprised all viewers by mentioning that the rules established by the 1985 film were not as precise as originally thought. This mention, as a joke, caused a lot of laughter in the fans. Recently, Bog Gale, writer of Back to the Future, decided to respond to the film and the directors.
What did he say?
When Gale appeared with the Russo in a new installment of Pizza Film School, the writer spoke about this scene in particular and said that while they used the reference to the tape to make fun of it a bit, in the end they applied the same formula as this one. Since in Avengers: Endgame some characters revisited some previous movies in the timeline, just like Marty in Back to the Future 2.
“You say, 'You mean the Back to the Future bullshit?' And at the end of the day, you end up going back to the first Avengers movie and previous Thor movies, so it really * is * a kind of Back to the Future ”, expressed the writer. In addition, he also revealed that he loved that they talked about this iconic film on such an important tape today.
