Bassam Tariq confirms that he will direct the film

The director of Mogul Mowgli (2020), Bassam Tariq, has confirmed that he is taking over the helm of Blade for Marvel Studios.

It was recently reported that Bassam tariq will take the helm of Blade to Marvel Studios. The filmmaker has confirmed that he is the latest director to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For now we do not know if the film will hit theaters or if it will go directly to Disney Plus, the streaming platform that can be accessed through this link.

The reboot will bring the Vampire Hunter to the MCU, with the Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Greenbook, 2018) assuming the main role. As for what the leap into blockbuster territory has been like, Tariq admits that he was surprised that a project like this ended up in his hands.

“I didn't think (Blade) was going to happen, to be honest, he tells The Playlist. I am honored and privileged, but I am here in the service of Stacy Osei-Kuffour, which is the amazing screenwriter who is writing the movie. He's a phenomenal presence and a monster in his own right. And for Mahershala (Ali). For me, it's really working at your service. I can't say anything about it, but I'm very excited about what we're doing. "

His story has been his pass to the UCM

It seems that the non-existence of the story for Blade in the comics has opened the door for the character to be taken to some unexpected places. There are many stories starring Blade, of course, but he has gone from being the center of horror stories to joining The Avengers in recent years.

I think the reality is that there is no 'Blade' canon, you know? If you ever read the comics, they are always changing… Unfortunately, the (comic series) never lasted that long, says Tariq.

Blade has no release date yet, although it is anticipated to be at the end of Phase 4 or sometime in Phase 5. Do you have good expectations about their reboot? Leave your opinion in the comments.
