Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans will be the new faces of Netflix. The actors are going to star in the most expensive movie, so far, on the streaming platform.
Netflix continues to bet on its original content and this time, it has used a lot of money to carry out the most expensive film in its catalog, so far. According to Deadline, the streaming platform has given the new film by Anthony and Joe Russo as directors, and has given them more than 200 million dollars to do it. And who will be as protagonists? Nothing more, nothing less, than Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.
The film is adapted from ‘The Gray Man’, a 2009 best seller written by Mark Greaney. Regarding his level protagonists, Ryan Gosling will be Court Gentry, a former CIA agent involved as a hitman, and Chris Evans will be Lloyd Hansen, another killer who will chase him around the world. In the words of Anthony Russo, "they represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be and what it can do." In addition, it sets long teeth for Marvel fans: "To those who are fans of‘ Captain America: The Winter Soldier ’, this moves us in that territory but more situated in the real world."
The idea is that the film is, like the book, the cornerstone of an entire film franchise with Ryan Gosling in charge as much as possible. The Russo have been working on this project for a long time, which was stalled for several years in New Regency with James Gray as director and Brad Pitt as protagonist.
This ambitious project, which reinforces the Russo relationship with Netflix after the success of ‘Tyler Rake’, will be produced by their firm, AGBO, and will feature a script by Joe Russo reviewed by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. They plan to start filming in January in Los Angeles.
