Criticism of Rosa's wedding, the great success of Icíar Bollaín with an intimate plot that is born of self-love

Criticism of the great film by Icíar Bollaín entitled Rosa's wedding.

About to turn 45, Rosa realizes that she has always lived for others and decides to leave, leave everything behind and press the nuclear button. He wants to take charge of his life and fulfill the dream of having his own business. He will soon discover that his father, his brothers and his daughter have other plans, and that changing your life is not so easy if it is not in the family script. This is the premise of Rosa's Wedding.

This Friday, August 21, Rosa's wedding, the long-awaited film by Icíar Bollaín that was shot in the city of Valencia, is released, as well as another of his most characteristic films, El olivo. With an original cast and a very intimate script, the director composes a prestigious film in the purest Bollaín style. For this reason, it does not stray from its roots and re-mixes great drama with touches of comedy and social criticism. First of all it is a film that born of frankness and self-love diluted in a delusional plot full of laughter.

A main cast at the height of the director

For the third time, the director has counted on Candela Peña after “Hello, are you alone?” (1995) and “I give you my eyes” (2003). His important work is fundamental since it is the link of all the characters and where he supports the story that simmers. However, in the climax he demolishes his great performance with a weak and artificial internal monologue. Nevertheless, the fierce interpretations of Nathalie Poza and Sergi López they enhance the quality of the film, not like the deplorable and tiny performance of María Maroto.

The dramatic charge that delves into the first part can be tedious, but from there, the film takes the true path that will hook the viewer and leave him in suspense by the great script mixed with humor pills. Likewise, the different and changing locations are exhibited as one more element and demonstrates the considerable production with which Bollaín has been able to count on.

Rosa's wedding hits the mark with a story that screams to be seen and that will captivate thousands of women and men who can be seen reflected in it. We stand before another total success of Icíar Bollaín being true to herself in a season where it is necessary to support culture in an uncertain situation that is going to leave many people out in the open.

And you? What are you waiting for to go see her this Friday?
