Eurovision Review: The Story of Fire Saga

Eurovision: The Fire Saga story opens today on Netflix, directed by David Dobkin and starring Pierce Brosnan, Demi Lovato, Rachel McAdams or Will Ferrell, among others.

Lars and Sigrit are two unknown Icelandic musicians who have the opportunity of a lifetime before them: to represent their country in the most important musical contest in the world. Now they can demonstrate that there are dreams worth fighting for.

The purpose of Eurovision: The story of Fire Saga was going to be a parody of the famous festival,

but it ends up having other dyes and approaches apart from the parody. The first third of the footage focuses on the presentation of the two protagonists, very well interpreted by Ferrell and Rachel McAdams; This section is interesting, since they explain the motivations and dreams of the duo, but they do it gets heavy at times. Everything centers on the lack of support from this duo, thus clinging to what seems like an impossible dream.

The cast has chemistry,

in fact there a loving tension that both capture very well in the history of the footage. Rachel McAdams' performance gives a character a sense of realism that, with another actress, might have been irritable. And that chemistry already mentioned makes the viewer maintain the expectation before a foreseeable end. As the most important thing in the film is the relationship between the two, since the musical environment appears in the background and thus, Dobkin manages to generate a perfect shade.

The last leg of the story centers on the Eurovision Song Contest.

The end has that part of forced drama, since in addition, they alter the festival rules for that purpose. But fans of the festival, including myself, we also have our moment, in which several winners of the festival appear. A narrative break forced, but that is appreciated. The script is predictable, since it fails to exploit everything it can, as well as the gags are not funny or not all that they claim. And, despite the long, excessive duration, it's a movie that you can enjoy and ends up being easily digestible.
