In 2013, The Man of Steel was released under the direction of Zack Snyder. However, the director did not have the opportunity to carry out the sequel to this character played by Henry Cavill. After the incidents with the Justice League, Superman's future within the DCEU became very uncertain. Within all these already known facts, information was revealed that was never available to any fan: James Gunn was about to direct a Clark Kent film.

According to the statements offered by James Gunn, he decided to have a conversation with Kevin Feige about the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. During the conversation, the filmmaker revealed to the executive that the day before he had agreed to direct a film for Warner Bros. and DC. Quickly, Kevin asked if it was something related to Superman, however, the only answer that James Gunn granted is that it was "a possibility". Shortly after it was learned that the tape was actually The Suicide Squad, a title with which they will try to repair all the damage done by Suicide Squad some years before.

The director declined to elaborate on this meeting. However, his words seem to reveal that Warner Bros is indeed planning a new adventure for Superman in the DCEU, something that is sure to fill fans of the hero with excitement.
