Actress Neve Campbell has been the main protagonist of the youth horror saga and now she could repeat her role as Sidney Prescott in Scream 5.
Good news for horror fans! Since it is reported that the filmmakers behind Scream 5, a film that could restart the saga, are in contact with the protagonist of the franchise, Neve Campbell, to return in her iconic role.
While presenting for her next movie Castle in the Ground, actress Neve Campbell revealed in a recent interview that she has already had preliminary conversations with the filmmakers behind Spyglass Media's Scream 5, which could be a sequel or a reboot. Something they must be debating right now.
Neve Campbell commented that: “We are having conversations: I have been contacted about it, the moment is a little difficult due to COVID-19. We only started the conversation a month and a half ago, so it will take some time to figure out how everything is going to work… We are negotiating, so we'll see. ”
In early March it was reported that Spyglass Media had signed the directors of Ready or Not, Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett to direct the new movie, and it seems the directorial duo has already made a big impression on the actress.
"The two directors wrote me a very moving letter about Wes Craven and how he was a great inspiration to them and how they really want to honor him in Scream 5, and that meant a lot, a lot to me," said actress Neve Campbell. "Hopefully we can all see the project and find a way to do it."
Neve Campbell then continued: “I am so grateful for these movies… I love Sidney Prescott. It's always fun for me to step back in his shoes, and it's always fun for me to see the cast come back and do one of these movies again and try to make another good story. ”
The first four extremely successful movies were directed by horror legend Wes Craven with Kevin Williamson writing three of them, including the first installment that changed the teen horror genre. Starring Neve Campbell in the title role as Sidney Prescott with Courteney Cox and David Arquette also appearing in each movie.
Instead of a Scream 5, the series received a small-screen reboot on MTV in 2015, but it was canceled after two seasons and then revived on VH1, where it aired its final season last year.
