New controversy on Netflix with the movie Multiple

After the great controversy over the film Cuties, now Netflix has received protests about Multiple (2016) by M. Night Shyamalan.

In 2016 it was released Multiple (Split), a movie of M. Night Shyamalan starring James mcavoy Y Anya Taylor-Joy, which was about young girls who are kidnapped by a man who has 24 different identities. But it also had a bombshell at the end, since it was a kind of sequel to The Protected (Unbreakable) 2000. The movie was a tremendous success, costing only $ 9 million and grossing more than $ 278 million. In 2019 they made a continuation titled Cristal (Glass) which lowered the quality a bit and only raised $ 248 million. Now it can be seen on the platform Netflix in some countries.

4 years later the controversy has jumped.

Admittedly, Netflix is so popular that anything it releases right away can get the same amount of hate as it is excitement. But this time Multiple is being heavily attacked and its removal from the streaming platform is being demanded.

“This petition is directed at Netflix, Inc., which currently streams Multiple on the streaming platform in select countries, providing readily available access to the strongly dehumanizing stigma this movie creates. The petition is not from one person, or a single group of people, but from the wider dissociative identity disorder community and anyone who considers themselves an advocate for people with mental illness. We need to decide where to draw the line in entertainment media, and the severely under-represented minority groups struggling to be seen in the first place is a good place to start. The dissociative identity disorder community and its allies ask Netflix, Inc. to remove the title of its service or add a disclaimer that the film is not representative of DID as a whole. "
