The Russo brothers think that only a Secret Wars movie could be bigger and put together more shocking images than Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Will they dare to bring the Secret Wars story to the cinema? It's a great question that only Marvel studios can solve. But clearly it would be as epic or more than the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The Russo brothers, directors of both films, believe that Secret wars it's a great idea that would surpass everything we've seen in theaters to date.
“You know, I read it when I was 10 or 11 years old, and it was the great gathering of all the heroes. It was one of the first major comics to do that, that was truly event narration for me at its finest. And what happens when you put all those personalities together. I also like the idea that villains have to unite with heroes. Anthony and I like complicated relationships between heroes and villains, we like villains who think they are heroes in their own stories. So everything is integrated into this notion of Secret Wars. Running something on the scale of Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame was directly related to the Secret Wars dream, which is even bigger on scale. ” Joe Russo said.
To what his brother Anthony Russo answered:
"It would be the biggest movie you can imagine, so that's what really excites us in the story: the ambition is even greater than the ambition of the Infinity Saga, so it would surpass Avengers: Endgame."
What is Secret Wars?
It is a twelve-volume Marvel story published between 1984 and 1985, which was in charge Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck and Bob Layton. The plot revolves around Beyonder, also known as the Almighty or The Eternal. A powerful cosmic being who kidnaps Marvel's greatest heroes and villains and confronts them on an artificial planet called Battleworld. They make different teams and alliances, until Doctor doom Absorb Beyonder's powers and try to destroy them all. But in the end he is defeated and Reed richards manages to return everyone to Earth. As we can see they would use many characters as he did Avengers: Endgame, but instead of fighting all against Thanos, it would be a fight between them. Something worth seeing in theaters.
