After the appearance of the rumor that Alice Braga would be playing Poison Ivy in The Suicide Squad, director James Gunn denies it
James Gunn has firmly denied the rumor that Poison Ivy will be in The Suicide Squad. The new DC comics movie has been the subject of much speculation in recent months. The film is between a crossroads of a reboot and a sequel, and much of the production has been kept secret, from its plot to its characters. Gunn, of course, has been quiet about what will happen in his DC movie, but some things are clear. For example, the film will include some established characters from Suicide Squad 2016, and a very high body count is expected.
The main characters of The Suicide Squad they're particularly interesting to fans, in part because Gunn refuses to say who is involved. Returning faces include Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). Beyond that, though, very few characters have been named, though what's impressive is the size of the cast. Newcomers include Taika Waititi, Idris Elba, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, and Michael Rooker, just to name a few.
These days, rumors have begun to circulate that new cast member Alice Braga is playing DC's famous villain, Poison Ivy. Gunn learned of these rumors and criticized the alleged leaks that treat everything as fact. When asked directly about a Poison Ivy appearance, Gunn firmly said, “Not true. It's BS like most things on this particular site, ”referring to the website that caused the rumor.

Fans have waited a long time to see Poison Ivy join the DCEU, but so far it's only been on the big screen in the forgettable 1997 Batman & Robin. There's a chance that Poison Ivy could be included in Birds of Prey 2 (if any once confirmed), or even in Gotham City Sirens. At this point, however, there are no immediate plans to introduce it to the DCEU. Sadly, The Suicide Squad would have presented him with an excellent opportunity for her to come, but that is clearly not going to happen.
Fans have certainly been waiting long enough for more news and details on The Suicide Squad, and they'll finally get a sneak preview later this month on DC FanDome. Gunn has already confirmed that he will be present alongside the cast members of the film, and he will surely have some exciting revelations at the DC online convention. Many fans are likely to expect a teaser to be revealed, but since The Suicide Squad isn't scheduled until August 2021, it could be too soon. Of course, anything could happen, and Gunn could have some images prepared for the fans.
