In an early version of the Captain Marvel script an important character died, but now he is an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The star of Captain Marvel, Ben mendelsohn (Rogue One, The Dark Knight Rises), revealed in a new interview that in an earlier draft of the script, it was supposed to Talos died. However, the plans for the character later changed.
In the movie Captain Marvel, it seemed that Carol Danvers would face the Skrulls, but we soon learned that the shapeshifters weren't that bad, and that the Kree were the real villains. Talos became an ally of the powerful heroine and Nick Fury, and even replaced the latter during the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).
This was revealed by the actor himself during a recent interview.
"That really exceeded my expectations," he said. Ben mendelsohn about the movie Captain Marvel. “Talos was going to die around page 60 in the script originally and he survived that, so he's done pretty well. And if that damn shifter rears his ugly head again, I'll do my best to be inside him. "
He's clearly excited to reprise the role of Talos in the not-too-distant future. But still it's crazy to think that the character was ever killed at such an early stage. This would have greatly changed the Captain Marvel movie, so clearly rewrites were made that reshaped this origin story and allowed the Skrulls to stay. Maybe at some point in the writing of the script they were actually the villains and then they were changed to refugees.
According to all the rumors, Captain Marvel 2 will adapt Secret Invasion, but it's hard to say how a heroic Skrull fits into that. So there are two options, the first is that it will have nothing to do with the comics. The second is that Talos will ultimately be a villain and there will be a great betrayal.
