These are the right people to continue with Back to the Future

The creators of the Cobra Kai series say that Back to the Future should expand for today's audiences in the form of a television series.

Hayden Schlossberg, Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald, creators of Cobra Kai, they think they could give a continuation to Return to the future similar to the spin-off of karate Kid (1984). They believe that franchises share many of the same aspects.

“We've gotten into trouble in the past when we talk about our desire to do something with Back to the Future. Maybe we have something more to lean on than when we were just Harold and Kumar's guys. What I can say is that we love the Back to the Future universe as much as we love the Karate Kid universe. Those characters were also part of our lives and continue to be part of our lives.

Jon Hurwitz continued:

“We know that the team that made the Back to the Future films seem to have little interest in continuing in that world and we respect that. As long as they sit like this, there really is nothing to do. If they ever change their minds and see Cobra Kai and they like what we did with this in the Karate Kid world, then we would be well prepared for whatever reunion we have in the future. “

Hayden Schlossberg said:

“They are very similar franchises in many ways. With this type of older character with a younger character as its two protagonists. There is the same nostalgia associated with it. They came out almost at the same time. There are a lot of possibilities with Back to the Future, but I also think we understand that if we were the people creating a franchise and we were part of something, especially given Michael J. Fox's situation with his health, we totally understand the logic of simply saying: ' Hey, that was a great trilogy at the time. ' I'm sure, regardless of anyone's demands, 100 years from now, 200 years from now, it's a great story, it will be remade in the distant future. We don't need to do that because we're just fans and we can imagine it in our minds if that's what it ends up being. “
