They discover a secret cameo in Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 movie released in 2004 continues to surprise us with a secret cameo from a great Marvel character.

It has long been speculated that Namor will make its debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, there was a reference in Avengers: Endgame that would cause Atlantis to appear in Black panther 2. But while they decide to show this beloved character from the comics, you have to remember a cameo he had in the movie Spider-man 2.

This is the moment of the cameo.

In Spider-man 2, a garbage man carries the discarded suit of Peter parker to the offices of Daily bugle, to the delight of J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons). The newspaper editor tells his secretary Betty brant (Elizabeth Banks) to pay the man a hundred dollars and throw him a bar of soap, marking his only participation in the story.

However, the film's novel goes on to describe an additional interaction between Dumpster and Betty, where he thanks her by bowing after she adds additional money to his payment without telling Jameson, and explains that he used to be a member of the royalty but can't remember where. As trivial as it may sound, it is directly related to one of Namor's early comic book stories.

In the fourth issue of The Fantastic Four, Johnny storm discovers Namor living on the streets, with the ruler of Atlantis who lost his memory and grew a beard. The connection is obviously just a cameo thrown into the novelization of Spider-man 2 to attract fans, but still establishes that both Namor and Atlantis are technically canon in the trilogy of Sam raimi. Like Doctor Strange, since in that same movie there is a funny conversation between J. Jonah Jameson and his assistant where they mention it. | Cinema, comics and series
