Trailer for Steven Spielberg's West Side Story remake

Director Steven Spielberg wanted to remake West Side Story, the 1961 musical classic, and we can already see the first trailer.

The original film was based on a musical of the same name, which was itself a version of the play. Romeo and Juliet, from William Shakespeare. Now, Steven Spielberg think it's time for there to be a remake of West Side Story and thus retell the same story for today's audience.

Directed by the Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg, from a screenplay by the Pulitzer Prize Winner and Tony Prize Winner Tony kushner, this film tells the classic story of fierce rivalries and young love in New York City in 1957. The cast features musical stars such as Ansel Elgort (Tony), Rachel Zegler (Maria), Ariana DeBose (Anita), David alvarez (Bernard), Mike faist (Riff), Josh Andrés Rivera (Chinese), Ana Isabelle (Rosalía), Corey stoll (Lieutenant Schrank), Brian d'Arcy James (Officer Krupke) and Rita Moreno (Valentina).

Rita Moreno, is one of only three artists to be honored with Academy, Emmy, GRAMMY, Tony and Peabody awards. In addition, she is also serving as an executive producer on the West Side Story remake.

By bringing together the best of Broadway Y Hollywood, the film's creative team includes Tony kushner, who also serves as an executive producer. Plus the Tony award winner Justin peck, was the one who choreographed the musical numbers of the film. Renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic Conductor and GRAMMY Award Winner Gustavo Dudamel, who directed the recording of the iconic West Side Story remake score, the Oscar-nominated composer and director David newman (Anastasia), who arranged the score, the Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine tesori (Fun Home, Thoroughly Modern Millie), who oversaw the voice cast and Grammy-nominated music supervisor Matt sullivan (Beauty and the Beast, Chicago), who served as the film's executive music producer.
