The film Firestarter will have a reboot, from the hand of Blumhouse, and it has just been revealed that Zac Efron will be one of the protagonists.
After starring in the Ted Bundy film, Zac Efron is preparing to head the cast of a new film. According to recent news, the 32-year-old actor joined the team for Firestater, a reboot of the 1984 film, which, in turn, is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

This book was published in 1980 and tells the story of a girl who, after developing pyrokinesis (ability to create and control fire with the mind), is kidnapped by a secret agency that wants to take advantage of her peculiar gift; one that, in the wrong hands, is extremely dangerous. Regarding the new Firestater movie, it was revealed that Zac Efron could play the protagonist's father, Andy McGee. This character has the ability to induce hypnosis and his goal in the story is to protect his daughter from those who want to use her as a weapon.

A reboot on the way
This new Firestater project will be directed by Keith Thomas, while the script is by Scott Teems. On the other hand, Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman will serve as producers through their respective companies Blumhouse and Weed Road. And no less detail is that Universal Pictures will be responsible for its distribution. Regarding the cast, only the possible participation of Zac Efron and Andy McGee as the protagonist is known.
The first film adaptation featured a cast led by Drew Barrymore (age eight), David Keith and Heather Locklear. Directed by Mark L. Lester, it raised only $ 17 million globally, against a budget of approximately $ 15 million.
